After culinary school, I was lucky enough to land on a job in one of our town’s hotel and restaurant establishments. Since getting hired was unexpected, I had to borrow a set of chef’s uniform, including an apron and a toque. While on my second week, my culinary mentor asked me if I wanted to order a chef jacket as he would get a 50% discount if we’d get it under his name. I accepted the offer, of course. A week later, I got surprised upon seeing my chef coat hanging outside my locker in our changing room:
My double-breasted white chef coat complete with buttons, embroidered Swedish flags on both collars [can’t wait to change the other flag to a Philippine one], Swedish Chefs Association logo and my full name. My mentor also handed me a black toque and a black full length apron … for free!

All I needed was a pair of chef pants and my working uniform would be complete. It wasn’t that difficult to find though. I mean, if finding a good pair of tourmaster venture pants these days no longer requires so much effort, hunting for those perfect chef pants is also painless. Thanks to the power of the internet!
So well, that same week, I was able to purchase two pairs! I also bought a pair of working shoes which was expensive but truly worth it!
