I was one of the lucky twelve students who got into the 10-month culinary program which started in August of 2011. In a couple of weeks time, ten out of the original twelve will be done with the course. Talking about how time flies so fast, huh? We are at the moment busy with the remaining projects. Everything has to be in before May 11 and well… you can imagine the amount of stress we’re going through right now. Add to that the upcoming final written exam and the three course meal that we have to present - our final kitchen exam. I am still in the process on finalizing my menu and although it sounds so easy, it actually isn’t in reality.
As early as last week, I have already been on the lookout for work. I am really hoping to land on a job as soon as I finish culinary school. One can never know, yeah?
My mentor from the Department of Employment has given me a call a week ago and has asked me to report to the office the day after the commencement exercises and has kept on reminding me more than five times to bring along my grades, school records, certificates and recommendations. She’s also asked me if I already have my driver’s license. Sadly, I don’t yet but will definitely enroll in a driving school so soon.
To be honest, being behind the wheel makes me so nervous which is the reason why the idea of putting myself in a driving school has been postpone a gazillion times. My sis-in-law on the other hand is the perfect opposite of me and I envy her big time. She’s passed with flying colors driving exams for cars, vans, buses and get this … even huge trucks! She just enjoys getting challenged and ends up impressing people who know her. She used to tell us about her plan on looking for wrecker sales or rollers for sale then purchase one so she can earn truly big by driving important goods within Scandinavia. She’s my inspiration. I know I can overcome my fear of driving if I only put my mind into it. If she can do it, why can’t I? Oh, I will be aiming to drive a car and nothing more, if you know what I mean. I can’t beat my sis-in-law’s record for sure.
Fingers crossed, I will be finishing school with good grades, get employed and within the next two months get a driver’s license. Wish me luck… an enormous one!
